The vineyard is perched on the eastern slope of Mount Monument between Romsey and Woodend.

Originally planted in 1998, the layout is approx. 2900 vines per hectare, cane pruned to VSP trellis with moveable foliage wires. Soils consist of grey loam over silica clays with variations of ironstone buckshot and quartz present. At approx. 600m above sea level, it is one of the coolest grape growing sites in Australia.

We produce limited volumes of premium hand crafted Estate wines specialising in long lived vintages of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.

Riesling

Total vine area: 1 acre.  North Eastern aspect.
Trellis: Hand pruned bi-lateral canes with vertical shoots, positioned with four moveable foliage wires.
Soil type: Grey loam over silica clays with smatterings of ironstone buckshot present.
Altitude: Approximately 600m above mean sea level.
These vines are the sole surviving Riesling plantings in the coolest parts of the Macedon Ranges where historically, adequate ripening was rarely achieved.
Wine Style: Delicate yet intense fruit characters supported by a steely backbone of natural acidity. These are excellent food wines of great ageing potential.

Chardonnay

Total vine area: 2.6 acres. North Eastern aspect.
Trellis: Hand pruned bi-lateral canes with vertical shoots, positioned with four moveable foliage wires.
Soil type: Grey loam over silica clays with smatterings of ironstone buckshot and some quartz present.
Altitude: Approximately 620m above mean sea level.
Clone: Penfolds #58.
Wine Style: Reflecting each season, the wines will vary in depth of ripeness related flavours, from crisp to occasional years being richer in style, with good natural acidity ensuring long cellar life.

Pinot Noir

Total vine area: 2.5 acres.  North Eastern aspect.
Trellis: Hand pruned bi-lateral canes with vertical shoots, positioned with four moveable foliage wires.
Soil type: Grey loam over silica clays with smatterings of ironstone buckshot and quartz present.

On the coolest slopes of the Macedon Ranges, Pinot Noir is the only red grape variety that has proven to excel.
Clone: M.V.6.
Wine Style: Seasonal conditions are reflected in ripeness levels and the depth of texture, however all years produce excellent food styles showing deep colour from the unique soil influence, mixed with defined fruit characters and excellent length of finish.
