2016 MOUNT MONUMENT CHARDONNAY

James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion – 94 points – “Whole-bunch pressed, settled, fermented in barrel with light lees, matured in French oak (25% new). Straw-green hue; a very complex chardonnay with rich grapefruit-accented fruit joined by white peach and a long, juicy and focused palate. The oak is balanced and positive.”

Notes: The 2016 Chardonnay was a tightly structured style at bottling, showing subtle barrel ferment complexities. There are notes of roasted chestnuts, maple leaf, dried orange peel, ginger and star anise spice on the nose with clean pomelo, bosc pear and quince following on the palate, balanced by a long and fine acid finish. This wine promises further development potential for the future.
